Is Gramma Worthy of Being On Oprah?

With all the recent chatter in the back of my mind, about how I should try to get on the Oprah show. I came upon Meg La Borde Phenix’s blog about how Oprah’s show is considered “the pie in the sky media hit and that most authors are not appropriate for the show.” Phenix’s blog has a free quiz that is really thought provoking and leads this Gramma to think it is time for a reality check.

Do I really fit into Oprah’s program formula? Show business formula’s rule because it keeps viewers watching and sponsors happy. It is time to find out if I am really Oprah worthy! Not to keep you in suspense any longer, I scored an 11, which indicates that I should not put all my book-promoting eggs into Oprah’s basket! It’s Okay! There are still plenty of other ways to successfully let others know about my children’s grief recovery story, Flying Hugs and Kisses.

I cannot help but think sometimes, that mass marketing is not the answer and it is all just hype. So how can authors really know what works to successfully promote a book? This is something only our publisher’s know because they get the book orders. Now I can truthfully respond to people that I have indeed checked out the possibility. Blessings to both of you, Oprah and Meg!
